For this three hour workshop, you will start with learning a “water ripple” folding technique on a 24” bandana. Once you get that cloth soaking in the indigo, you will then get to practice more intricate folding and stitching techniques on a 28” hand towel to create a “wood grain” pattern and several other variations. I am very excited to be at Quiltfest this year! This show is full of vendors and amazing quilts! You don't have to be a quilter to enjoy this show. If you enjoy this show if you enjoy any sort of fiber art! To find my booth: take a left after you enter. It is against the wall.

"Tsumami zaiku" is a Japanese handicraft that utilizes small squares of fabric to create beautiful floral hair ornaments (kanzashi). Maiko (apprentice geisha) are often seen wearing ornate tsumami kanzashi. As part of Main Street Studio's "Charlton Makes!" community art exhibit and workshop series, community members will have an opportunity learn traditional techniques to create a floral hair clip known as a "chirimen fabric tsumami kanzashi".

Registration is required. This FREE Workshop is brought to you by The Op Shop. I will be teaching sashiko stitching and boro-style patching and repair techniques. You should bring your own denim or cotton piece you'd like to mend or work on. There will be practice pieces available. All tools will also be available for purchase so you can continue to master your new skill at home!
