New Japanese cotton Noren Curtain cloth - Indigo shibori Tie dye hydrangea and butterfly
This listing is for one Noren curtain. Noren were traditionally used in shop doorways to keep out the sun and dust. They are also used in private homes as room dividers, curtains, door curtains or decorations. They also make beautiful centerpieces for quilts or home decor items such as cushion covers. The curtain can also be used to create large tote bags. The uses are endless!
*Please be aware that noren are "split" curtains and they can be opened to allow a person to pass through. If you wish to use this as a quilt backing or a cushion cover the noren can be sewn shut*
This noren is NEW and is in its origional packing. However, I opened the packaging to photograph the curtain.
The cotton fabric has a deep indigo blue background with a white shibori (tie dyed) pattern of hydrangea flowers and leaves. There are also two butterflies flying above the hydrangea flowers. This is a hand dyed curtain. Please see the last photo for the best representation of the colors. Crayola brand crayons are shown in the photo for a color comparison. Please enlarge the photos to see the texture of the fabric.
This cloth is about 32 inches x 56.5 inches ( 81.3 cm x 143.5 cm) in size. The entire floral design (not including butterflies) is about 38.5 inches tall by 29 inches wide (97.8 cm x 73.7 cm). The largest of the butterflies measures about 6 inches x 4.5 inches (15.2 cm x 11.4 cm)
All sides of the curtain are hemmed and there is a pocket on the top edge for hanging.

-Slightly rough texture, similar to canvas fabric.
-100% cotton
This curtain was dyed with a natural plant dye (indigo). The tag suggests it should be washed before use. Due to the dying of this fabric it should be washed in cold water, separately. Do not bleach or dry clean. The fabric can be ironed on the high cotton, steam setting. The tag also states that dye color can be transferred to other items if the item is wet or rubs on another item.
