QH Textiles sewing pattern and instructions for Slide Clasp Purses (A) - Large and Small sizes

Sorry, this item has sold.

This listing is for one printed instruction sheet and pattern sheet for Slide Clasp Purses in a large and small size. This is the pattern for the "A" style of purses. This pattern and instructions were created by QH Textiles.

This pattern comes with a printed, paper sheet that has both written instructions and a diagram explaining how to create a slide clasp purse in either a large or small size. A printed paper pattern sheet is available for the pattern pieces so there is no need to draft a pattern. This pattern is suitable for beginners but is also a fun project for the more experienced.

The finished size of the small purse is 5.5 inches (14cm) x 2.75 inches (7cm) x 5 1/8 inches (13cm)
The finished size of the large purse is 7.5 inches (19cm) x 3.5 inches (9 cm) x 7 1/8 inches (18cm)

This is a simple and fun way to use up small scraps of fabric. The purses can also be embellished with sashiko or embroidery. Please note that these purses require the use of slide clasps. These slide clasps do not come with the pattern and can be purchased separately. The clasps can be purchased here:

The 2nd photo shows the fabric and hardware requirements for both purses.

**I have recently created a bag with this pattern. It was a simple pattern however I suggest a few changes**

1. If you are using a slide clasp with a fixed ring on one side then you can omit the cord that is placed between the two bar strips in step #7. This cord is used to prevent the top ring from sliding down the bars when the bag is used. However, newer slide clasp have these rings glued to the slide bars so this is not needed.

2. Add the snap to the bag BEFORE closing the bag opening in step #9. If you add the snap prior to closing the bag then you can hide the back side of the magnet closure between the lining and exterior of the bag. When attaching these snap closures I also like to use fray stop on the slits that are cut open and place a small square of interfacing on the fabric prior to folding down the prongs. This will prevent the metal from tearing the fabric due to heavy use.

The last 2 photos show a pouch that I created using this pattern. I created the large sized bag. This pouch is not for sale but is just shown in the listing as an example of what can be created using this pattern.
